me trying with eggs...

With time on my hands and a shoebox full of eggs I tried something new. It's very easy, even for me :)

Butter 6 slices of bread and cut into squares. Layer one half into a buttered casserole dish.

Add about 1/2 to 1 cup of your choice of cheese. I used cheddar but American would be really good. Layer the rest of the bread and add more cheese.

Beat 6 eggs and then add 3 cups of milk. Add 1/2 teaspoon each of dry mustard, salt, and pepper

Pour mixture over bread and etc. Place your casserole dish into another dish and place in oven. Add hot water into second dish til almost full, about half way up the casserole dish. If you try to put the water into the baking dish before you put it in the oven you will most likely spill it (like I did).

Bake at 350 for 1 hour and about 20 minutes. I liked the fact that it was easy. I liked the fact that it was a breeze to make and I would probably make it again for a brunch. I would probably add some breakfasty items like peppers or precooked bacon or something but since we had it for dinner it was as is.

I'm getting to be a pro at cutting out biscuits. Notice my attention to the fine detail work? I've decided that all biscuits should be square. Roll 'em out and cut them up and bake 'em :) Even my raised biscuits are square now. My raised biscuits are really good. This is another baking soda recipe. Another one. Like number 30 so far that I've tried. Nope. It didn't have that bitter after taste that some have had. Or too salty. Or too sweet. Or hard as a rock. This one had no taste at all. None. It even took the taste away from the sausage gravy that was on top of it. I'm still looking....
